Halo halo, World is a narrative-driven cooking simulator game about reconnection through cuisine. The game explores themes of LGBTQIA+ identity, Southeast Asian culture, and family. The gameplay loop consists of 2 stages of gameplay, the visual novel and cooking mini-games. Halo halo, World follows Jayce, a wholesome, air-headed culinary student who's trying his best. When his programmer cousin, Jasmine comes to visit, their dialogue unveils Jayce's past which guide the recipes. Jayce's memories influence the recipes. Chop ingredients, mix sauces, and cook on a stove to assemble Filipino and Thai dishes.
BASIC MECHANICS:
Drag/Drop Ingredients | Click and drag ingredients to and from the inventory using your mouse |
Filling pot with water | - Click and drag empty pot from inventory into sink - Wait for pot to fill with water - Click and drag to stovetop |
Chopping | - Open the chopping board by clicking on it - Drag a choppable ingredient from the inventory onto the board - Select the knife from the inventory (the chopping won't work unless you're holding the knife!) - Click on choppable ingredient with mouse until fully chopped - Put knife away when you're done chopping - Click and drag chopped ingredient into inventory |
Rice cooking | - Drag raw rice into rice cooker - Wait for light to turn orange - Click and drag from rice cooker into inventory |
Mixing | - Put all ingredients into mixing bowl or sauce pan open mixing view by clicking on mixing bowl or sauce pan - *select spoon from inventory (the mixing won't work without the spoon!) - Hold left mouse button down and drag over the arrows that appear in the mixing view |
